All Quiet on the Western Front
Where this film succeeds the most is in its portrayal of the horrors war. I feel that not all of the diversions from the original are for the better, especially the inclusion of the generals and diplomats, but it stays true to the original message of the film and book. 8.5/10

Some of the best cinematography you’ll see this year. It was Interesting seeing the German perspective of the First World War. It really shows you the psychological horrors of war. This will likely be nominated for an academy award. Must see !

“All At Once Everything Seems To Me Confused And Hopeless.”
Fuck this movie dawg, like its relentless in it’s absolute perfection of WW1 storytelling, the way Paul developed is actually insane to me, man had seen it all, death in cold and warm blood, even in blood that wasn’t his to see, but only imagine.
All Quiet On The Western Front is one helluva film, it delivers in its storytelling of how the horrors of war can affect one’s mind, and those around them both mentally and physically. I’d also love to point out the fact that the attention to detail is immaculate, like the fact the German soldiers were actually given the worst model of the bolt action rifle, of which they were given a Gewehr 98, instead of the standard being the Karbinger 66
1st Act / First Hour 9.1/10 (The parallel starter that uses all it can out of its setting and tone so that once the actual war part kicks in, the whole film gets flipped upside down and spun around.)
2nd Act / Second Hour 9/10 (Imagine the saddest thing you could ever watch happen to your friends, now imagine it with all of them, gets you in the feels don’t it?, I do think though that there is some major pacing problems here, and also the fact it’s hard to remember the friends when we saw them once an hour ago, but maybe that’s just me.)
3rd Act / Final 30ish 9.6/10 (Gets you in your feels over the course of of maybe 20 seconds, twice, but I digress the point I’m trying to make Is the key fact that the whole act is near perfect in almost all aspects, think my main problem was I kept forgetting who the ginger guy was.)
Plot 9.5/10 (I’ve so gotta watch the original from 1930.)
Soundtrack/Score 8.5/10 (I can’t really rate this due to the fact every song is either unnoticeable, or too short to not be considered a sound cue, I’ll revisit the album later but as it stands right now it’s an 8.5 due to how amazing “Paul” sounded.)
Acting 10/10 (Look at Felix Kammerer man, the mf looked like he could tell you war stories from the shit we saw, his whole development with his eyes is such a standout to me.)
Pacing 7.2/10 (The first is okay, the second lacks, the third is perfect, so it’s not the worst but it could be better.)
Cinematography 12/10 (The greatest cinematography I’ve seen since Parasite, every wide shot, every landscape shot, hell even the close ups looked fucking amazing, when I say every frame is painting I’m not fucking with you.)
Character Development 9.4/10 (9.2/10 for Paul, 0.2 for everyone else, but then again I think that’s the point.)
Writing 9.1/10 (The way characters come and go is so well done I must say.)
Ending 9.7/10 (Paul man, I got nothing to say, but the words, you deserved better.)
Direction 10/10 (I legitimately looked up the director when we paused it once because I was so amazed.)
Overall
113.1/120
9.3/10

While some scenes are changed, excellent quality for a Netflix reproduction. The original All Quiet is one of the few non-color movies I watched, and really recommend after a watch of this. The cinematography and music are perfect for both the fields and the trenches.

All Quiet on the Western Front
One of the most harrowing portrayals of war to date. You won’t find any messages of glory here. Not as graphic or haunting as the likes of “Come and See,” but it gets closer than most. World War I hardly gets the historical treatment as well as this.

Someone call Ru Paul cuz this thing Dragged.
The three tone motif in the score is AMAZING but should’ve been utilized better.
Quote: on Sunday I’ll go to the grave of our boy.
Character: Kat
Moment: Paul being stabbed seconds before the armistice.
Rating: 6/10

All Quiet on the Western Front
A war movie that doesn’t romanticizes or highlights heroism, but rather the futility, hopelessness, and randomness of war. 9.7/10

All Quiet on the Western Front
This movie wasn’t bad in itself. But the ending was super depressing because all of the character died for stupid reasons. For example, one character goes and tries to steal a chicken from a home for the fun of it after the war ends. The homeowner ends up shooting him. That sucks

All Quiet on the Western Front
Easier to follow compared to the 1930 version, but the lack of comedic scenes to break up the gore makes this version almost unbearable to watch. I would not have watched it if I weren’t required to for a class.

WOW this film made me cry. the unflinching detail and brutality of death in war is striking. the movie cuts between dying soldiers and wealthy and slow leaders who debate the end of the war, showing the lack of value the life of a soldier in comparison tothe gov officials pride.

A slightly longer, less good version of 1917. Enjoyable if you like a long war flick and good storytelling. It was a unique pov (young German) to ww1 which felt different. FYI it’s in German

what a sad, powerful and thought-provoking movie...
it's so easy for people in power to say, "let's keep fighting." but who actually has to fight? not the politicians making these decisions – it's the soldiers who are sent to the battlefield and forced to obey orders.

Easily one of the most impactful films I’ve ever watched. Absolutely devastating but also a cinematic masterpiece. The visuals, ACTING, sound and storyline captured the horrors of World War One into a flooring, gut wrenching performance.

All Quiet on the Western Front
All Quiet On The Western Front does not deliver anything new but is extremely well-produced and told. Realism is its best attribute but the production is stunningly haunting. You'll feel like you're actually in the middle of battle.
