Must watch if you don’t mind animation. Great movie which covers the fears of Japanese society and westernization

If you have never seen this. STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND GO WATCH IT RIGHT NOW!!! This is my favorite movie of all times that is better then most anime today in 2022. Do your self a favor and please watch this. You really won’t be let down.

The art and world are beautiful. As for the story, I don’t even know what was happening. About an hour in it gets pretty strange and incoherent. I’ve tried watching this twice and I just can’t get it.

Top tier art style. Definitely watch sub if available (always). Though this was a cool film, I found it incoherent. I had no clue what was happening and didn’t grasp the timeline. I need to revisit this later on.

Absolutely iconic on so many fronts.

I usually like odd or quirky elements in movies, but this one was just too bizarre in a different, almost transhumanistic way that wasn't really for me. I couldn't latch onto the characters and the story was puzzling. But I recognize its influence. Maybe I'll rewatch it sometime.

I know I’m 37 years late to the party, but I finally watched Akira! I have to admit the opening sequence was visually stunning! The story however, just wasn’t for me. I’ll probably get bashed by the anime purists and be called stupid for not getting it, but that’s ok with me.

5/10 I’m sorry, but I wasn’t a fan. It took me so long to finish the movie. I kept falling asleep. I’ll give it another chance later on tho

Confusing

Everyone need to have watched this movie at least once in their lifetime.

7/10 The art style is amazing and the animation is fantastic, very cool concept and was super interesting but lost me towards the end as I was understanding the plot at first but it does not explain much and then it just leaves you wondering what happened. Gonna read the boxset.

Its good and it holds well to this time but its a little glazed, i think ambulance has a way more captivating cast of characters you actually care about
