Couldn’t finish this. The animation has improved a fair bit since the original series but it’s just the exact same plot, which was already shit. It’s nonsensical slop 5/10

This was frustrating because it’s so mediocre, in fact it’s painfully generic, but come on… it’s Afro Samurai. I can’t hate this, I can’t even dislike this, this is just an hour 40 of aura farming and violent Kurosawa inspired duels in what is the most stylish the series has ever been. Character design like this is so refreshing and this film pushes just enough in a satisfactory direction to make the journey worth it. Voice talent in this is elite, but you already know, THE RZA steals every scene with a needle drop, the man is a living god and elevates the film to a whole different level. This is a complete vibe. 4/5
