Teyana Taylor absolutely excels in this role, but the acting across the board was great. Had a lot of beautiful shots and although the story kind of drags in the middle it lifts right back up for an emotional ending. Good movie and an even better lead performance

The long journey of an angsty mother to raise a quiet Black boy while being poor and depressed in New York.

This movie does a great job building a relationship with the characters and feeling for what they are going through.

Wow!!! Teyana did an amazing job!!! Can’t wait for her to do more movies!!!!

A complicated story about a mother and a son and a system designed to let see people fail. Pacing was a bit too slow for me in the first half but for better towards the end. Worth a watch to see the start of a very successful career for Teyona Taylor.

This film is driven by the stellar performances from the entire cast, like WOW. My biggest complaint is it was released to early in the year, and I’m worry it will be forgotten by the time the Oscars role around.

What a mess!

okay, i’m not going to lie.. hated tee’s acting in here, so it was hard to get into it, but the movie in a whole wasn’t bad.

Incredible acting and the story had me fully engaged. It touches on so much within the economic struggles of 90’s & 00’s NYC and portrayed gentrification so well. It’s a reminder of how fucked up beginnings can bring about happy endings. Amazing and authentic watch.

Jaw dropping twist, loved almost ever second of it! One thing I’d change is the character of T when he was a younger boy, I felt his role could’ve been played better with someone with more emotion or better skills/knowledge with acting.

This movie was so emotional, like it really captured how complicated life can be for some. I was not expecting the secret to be that! which I just love that it wasn’t predictable. Great movie 8/10

This movie was truly a heartfelt movie and in the end even tho the ending was sad she got the freedom and happiness she deserved after realizing she did an amazing job as a mother

Teyana Taylor acted so well. A deeply emotional story about a parent and child relationship. Sometimes it’s better not to know things. A wonderful performance from a grown up Terry too. 7/10.
