If you can make a generation scared to go to bed you did your fucking job as a horror movie. As this is the only good one in this franchise, I loved it. This is proof you don’t need a big budget to make a good movie. Freddy was just scary dude. Plus good cast of characters. 8/10.

Finally watched this classic! Supernatural visual effects were cheesy, but there were a lot of iconic scenes. The most disturbing was the phone scene… Krueger is a pervert

7.7 - My first watch in over a decade did not disappoint. I first saw this way too young (maybe 9) & the concept really scared me. A killer with superpowers that could kill you in your sleep was terrifying. Now though, this is peak classic campy 80s horror. The acting is pretty bad, the script is frequently laughable, and the bad decisions pile up absurdly quickly. But it’s so much fun, the practical effects are *fantastic*, & Freddy is still the scariest to me of the classic horror villains. I’ve never seen another of this franchise, but I definitely want to soon.

The original Nightmare delivers a terrifying villain and a unique concept that strips away any chance of safety. Freddy is arguably at his best, tearing through the screen into horror icon status. The final few minutes is all that prevents perfection.

Just like final destination, this gets a love purely for having a badass concept that it executes really really well. Even though I was pissed off because no one could listen worth a damn and Nancy was the only #real one, this was awesome. Every single death was NUTS. So so good.

Surprisingly good, they just had to ruin it with the classic awful acting. Couldn't even keep up the act for a single minute.

some years ago i made the mistake of watching the remake thinking it was the original,but watching this movie just proved my point that i will always stand by, no remake is better than the original.also a nightmare on elm street got to be one of my favourite horror movie classics

A thoroughly enjoyable slasher classic. The effects and kills (especially the first one) were outstanding and easily the highlight for me. I think the movie would’ve benefited from a higher kill count and a tighter, less meandering plot but even still this movie was great

An OG. This movie is literally the blueprint of horror. I loved the characters and story. This movie being so iconic makes it so good & it was meant to be scary but it was also funny. 8.5/10
