A Good Day to Die Hard

The potential was there but just wasn’t it was just bland and wasn’t really needed at all first film was about him and his daughter last film about him and his son see what they tried to do but it was just executed awfully sad it ends on a bad note after the first few were good..

Finally done with the Die Hard watch-through, this one was a seriously tough watch. The plot and the circumstances of how everything came to be were just pure nonsense. Dialogue is the worst it’s been in the franchise, where it’s never been especially strong. Visually, it’s ugly and overly Michael Bay-ified; just straight-up crash and explosion porn.

It’s a toughie, because I don’t think Jai Courtney is an especially ‘bad’ actor - he just picks terrible roles. This one certainly did him no favours. He just doesn’t work in this franchise, the forced recreation of Hans Gruber’s fall - almost as if to replace John McClane - felt gross. Bruce Willis is pretty bad here, too. Take a shot every time he says “I’m on vacation, Man!” - I dare you!

I get the “pay check gig” and all, I’m against them - but I get it. But it’s jarring to have taken one that kills the franchise which made your career. It’s a pretty unforgivable film.
