Big Mistakes
Based on the rating I had high expectations but it's just ok. Has funny parts, but most dialogues are boring, and the main character is annoying, plus I hate when show/movies push lgbt agenda. I lost interest after 4 episodes.

I had no idea what was coming with this show. I laughed a lot and there was quite a bit of tense scenes. Looking forward to Season 2!

Big Mistakes
This show is genuinely hilarious 😭. I really love Dan Levy, and he’s so good at situational comedy—he has this ability to make even the most absurd situations feel naturally funny. Big Mistakes honestly feels like a mix of those random, over-the-top Netflix action shows with Gen Z humor, sarcasm, and a healthy dose of cynicism. It’s chaotic, weird, and genuinely entertaining, and I had a great time watching it.
My biggest criticism, though, is how Dan Levy’s character is portrayed as a priest. And no, it’s not because he’s gay—in fact, I actually found that aspect of his character really interesting. I liked the moments where the show touched on the conflict between being true to yourself and following a religion that has historically rejected or condemned homosexuality. There’s so much potential in that idea, especially when you have a character who has devoted his life to a faith while also having to reconcile that faith with who he is as a person.
That’s ultimately where I think the show misses an opportunity. The concept of a gay priest is genuinely fascinating and could have made for a really compelling emotional storyline, but for much of the show, his priesthood is either pushed to the side or used primarily as the setup for a joke. At the same time, when his priesthood does become central to the plot, I wish the show had done more with the moral conflict of his actual situation. He ends up working for a drug lord and getting involved in all kinds of illegal and morally questionable situations, while also using his position as a priest as a way to get away with things or navigate these situations. To be clear, when I say he’s doing things that go against his religion, I’m not talking about him being gay. I mean the fact that he’s a priest who has dedicated his life to serving God, yet suddenly finds himself involved in crime, working for a drug lord, and using his priesthood to help him get out of dangerous situations.
I would have loved to see more of the emotional and moral toll that comes with that. There’s so much potential in exploring a character who has sworn his life to a religion while simultaneously being pulled into a world that completely contradicts the values he’s supposed to represent. Instead, I sometimes felt like the show brushed past that conflict or used it primarily for comedy when it could have created some genuinely powerful moments. I think the show misses the opportunity to give his character a little more emotional depth, especially because the premise itself is so interesting.
Overall, though, Big Mistakes is a really fun and entertaining watch, and I definitely enjoyed it. I just wish it had dug a little deeper into some of its more interesting ideas instead of always turning them into comedy. Hopefully, season two gives Dan Levy’s character more room to explore the moral and emotional conflict of being a priest caught up in a life of crime, because I think there’s a genuinely great story there. I’ll definitely be watching! 😭

It was alright - it’s almost like watching Schitt’s Creek with the actor Dan playing almost the same character
