Unlocked: A Jail Experiment

Very moving view of life inside a prison and the complex nature of incarceration. What this sheriff did was admirable - treating these inmates like human beings, as complicated as we all are. Bravo to those who designed the program and to the inmates who participated.

While most reality shows good people acting at their worst, this takes people at their worst and asks them to act better. It’s a beautiful look at trust in humanity, autonomy, and belief that people can make the right choices. Plus, that story about the pet store is insane.

Oh wow didn’t expect that i will be crying over prisoners, rollercoaster process. I remember a saying that we’re all criminals but not all of us is caught smthing like that. Seeing them made me realize how life is not worth your rage cuz it cannot end good man

Really insightful and hopeful experiment. Our jail/prison system in the US is a mess, let’s try something new to rehabilitate people and reduce recidivism.

Really opened my eyes to what jails are like. Pretty unbelievable to see how petty these grown men act. Like 2nd graders. But also kinda insightful to see some of these guys change for the better by the end.
