First two seasons were really engaging, kept me interested. As we went into the third and fourth seasons, it sometimes felt rushed or unfulfilling. I believe the issue here is that they spent two full seasons on working through one murder, wherein a lot of effort and storytelling was dedicated. Then, we tried to keep up with that success but couldnβt come up with a story that hit the same way. Unfortunate.
I also really hated the path they took with Linden. I loved Holder generally from start to finish. The writers seemed indecisive about whether they wanted a romantic connection between the two, and as a result, we got this weird lukewarm open-ended situation because, oops, the show got canceled and now we have to try to wrap things up in a way that feels final. Started strong, ended flat.

everything about this show is so gripping and engaging that the storyline stays with you even after you turn it off. also allowed me to develop a new crush.

The mere fact that they can keep the audience engaged about one murder case over 26(!) hour-long episodes is a testament to the writing, character development, and storytelling. Itβs a slow burn, but you really start to care about everyone involved.
