Great docuseries

The Devil Next Door was fascinating, disturbing, and incredibly frustrating at times. The documentary follows the case of John Demjanjuk, a seemingly ordinary Cleveland grandfather who was accused of being “Ivan the Terrible,” a notoriously brutal Nazi concentration camp guard. What makes the story so compelling is the uncertainty surrounding his identity and the question of whether the right man was actually being held responsible.

The courtroom footage and survivor testimony were especially powerful. Hearing survivors describe what they experienced during the Holocaust was heartbreaking, and watching them confront the man they believed was responsible made the case feel incredibly personal. At the same time, questions about eyewitness identification, documents, and conflicting evidence made me constantly question what I believed.

I appreciated that the series didn’t present the case as simple or straightforward. Every time I thought I understood what happened, another piece of information complicated things. It raises difficult questions about justice, memory, guilt, and how someone can be held accountable decades after horrific crimes occurred.

Some parts moved slower than others, but overall this documentary kept my attention. It’s disturbing to realize how complicated the search for justice can become when so much time has passed. I finished the series still thinking about the evidence, the survivors, and the uncomfortable questions the case leaves behind.

An emotional rollercoaster of twists and turns which make you question your own beliefs and feelings. Some of the testimonies brought tears to my eyes. A monumental case for the Israeli judicial system, and the world for that matter. Highly recommend👏

Difficult watch - there were very real pictures/ videos of the Holocaust. When you think the series is about to be over, something else comes up and definitely have to pay attention - not a casual watch. Just a little too long for my taste.

Cool watch. Series was organized nice and tells a story about a very complex case with many different layers and viewpoints. It leaves you with no clear answer and for you to interpret the case how you see it and it tries to teach lessons. 7/10
