It's bad but I liked it for nostalgia

I’m so sad there isn't a second season to this. While I was lost at some points, the story is beautifully tragic.

The series is amazing and worth watching. A powerful dramatic adventure set in the streets and neighborhoods of Mumbai. The main character is a convicted Australian bank robber and heroin addict who escapes from prison and flees to India.

In the novel (Shantaram) by Gregory David Roberts the story continues after the end of the 12 episodes.. So let's hope there will be a second season in the future.

The story was solid but the execution wasn’t the best. Plot became too convoluted and messy.

Easy to watch - a little pedestrian and contrived in parts - but I enjoyed the characters, setting in India and general storyline

Gets gradually worse over the season.

When I found out this was actually based on a true story, it all changed. Really enjoyed it, felt a little slow about 2/3 through, but finished strong. Hoping it will get picked up for season 2 even if not on Apple TV+

Felt super dragged out and it had a hefty amount of material to cover since the book was long but wasn’t enough juice to keep me engaged. Felt like their could have been better research & rehearsal done by Charlie Hunam. Felt stereotypical at times.

I’m not a big fan of indian style acting or bollywood in general, but this one has it for me. Great cast, story, performance and execution. 8/10 overall.
