I cannot stand this anime or any of the characters with the exception of Sumi. The decisions and actions of everyone are infuriating, and a lot of what’s encouraged or displayed is super gross. This ain’t romantic or peak anime, y’all.

I love this anime is so pure and funny. Plus, the relationship between Kazuya & Chizuru slowly starts to warm up. The story is about renting girls from an app to portray the individual girlfriend. However, Kazuya has some personal problems that develop from renting girls.

9 out of 10. I loved the development of the characters, and the way the story has unfolded. Pretty good animation, and the situation is realistic. The only thing taking points away is the questionable scenes…

The groundwork took a while so much so a character breaks 4th wall to acknowledge it. but the movie arc and Hawaiian arc were apart of the build up after that it picks up fast but when it finally picks it’s very satisfying. Excited for season 6 now that things are moving. If you can power thru the cringe at any of the characters inability to actually communicate early on you’ll enjoy it.

The “fan service” and all that was just way too much, I can tolerate a little but it took over the entire show and it felt draining to try and get through an episode. I was hoping there would be something good out of this based on reviews but I couldn’t finish it.

Ruka needs to be punted to a different continent, Mami needs to be punted to the moon. Leave them alone there making it more complicated than it needs to be. Also how do I have more confidence than the main character in asking a girl out? Also Ruka needs to take a fucking hint.

Rent-A-Girlfriend is a romantic comedy anime with a unique premise, but it's marred by a frustrating and insufferable protagonist. The series boasts a compelling female lead and polished animation, but its slow and repetitive plot makes for a tedious viewing experience.
Highlights
- Unique Premise: The concept of a "rental girlfriend" service offers a great foundation to explore themes of loneliness and relationships.
- Strong Female Lead: Chizuru Mizuhara is a well-developed and complex character who carries the series.
- Polished Animation: The animation from TMS Entertainment is vibrant, with strong character designs.
Criticisms
- Slow and Repetitive Plot: The series is stuck in a cycle of narrative stagnation, with little progress in the central relationship.
- Frustrating Protagonist: Kazuya Kinoshita is a pathetic and indecisive lead character who shows no growth and makes questionable decisions.
- Tedious Viewing Experience: The show's repetitive nature and Kazuya's mistakes make it exhausting to watch.
Verdict
Rent-A-Girlfriend is a flawed and frustrating anime with a great premise and female lead that's wasted by a poorly developed protagonist and slow plot. It's recommended only for patient viewers who can tolerate a high level of second-hand embarrassment.
