Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord

Season 2 is no longer a want… it is now a need. Maul top 3 character in Star Wars and it isn’t even debatable, It’s a fact.

I queued this up for Star Wars Day expecting a simple spin-off, but the gritty depth totally blew me away.

What Worked:
Rau’s blocking and the painted shadows give the set a tactile weight. Through my Methodist faith lens, Daki holding to his principles reminds me that true light means doing what’s right despite the darkness. The Kiner score and Witwer’s voice work also give the quest a super dynamic flow.

The Cuts:
The middle really dragged for me; police red tape stalls the momentum. Keeping it spoiler-free, the final confrontation feels rushed, leaving the stakes of the big sacrifice half-baked. Plus, the droid repeatedly debating makes the subplot feel one-dimensional.

Verdict:
A stunning dive into a tragic villain. A must-watch for darker stories, but skip if you want lighthearted adventures.

Line: “You must adapt to the new state of the galaxy.”

Disney needs to lock tf in like this more often. Such a great addition to Star Wars and that ending was so peak

Second half of this was honestly incredible. Finale felt surreal to see Vader that much. He was terrifying. Really glad with how this explores more of mauls story. Can’t wait for more
