Chief of War
"Apocalypto", but set on the Hawaiian Islands and co-created/starring Jason Momoa, who I think has reached a new peak in his career with this performance. The cinematography and score hooked me in instantly, but I waited till episode 4 to review because I couldn't tell if the confusion was intentional or not. In short...it is and it isn't. The actual historical events are immensely convoluted, but the addictive dramatisation and raw episodic plot progression work wonders. The clear direction in the characters, script, and acting, as well as the almost absolute level of accuracy in locations, casting, languages, costumes, props, and story, is nothing but admirable and impressive. Apple TV really isn't showing any signs of slowing down when it comes to releasing award-winning content.

I absolutely loved Chief of War. The story was powerful, the action was intense, and the characters kept me invested. It was exciting, emotional, and one of my favorite series to watch.

Incredible story, but violence so graphic I think I missed half the show because my eyes were closed!

Chief of War
Jason Momoa when he cares about a role plays the brooding warrior very well. I appreciate all the effort made to keep this feeling very authentic and hope that Momoa can clear his schedule enough to make more seasons.

Nearly naked men, shark-tooth weapons, and pure chaos in paradise Chief of War is brutal, beautiful, and surprisingly soulful. Jason Momoa and the cast deliver intensity, realism, and heart, making this a beautifully raw look at loyalty, legacy, and the brink of war.
