Update (2/18/2026): Ok I spoke too soon they have me bought in now lol. They honestly could’ve just put the important info from episodes 1 & 2 in the beginning of episode 3 and went from there. I’m still not a fan of the short episodes but the last 2 episodes especially finally have me feeling like this show might not be a huge drop off from the original after all. Hopefully they just keep focusing on maintaining the quality of the writing and give up on the stupid shock value moments they hope will go viral at the expense of actual substance.

Original (January 2026): Very early obviously but not a great start. A more comedic tone than other GoT shows and not in an actually funny way but in a trying too hard to be funny way. Also naked male backsides are never going to help a show get additional points. Hopefully it gets better but my expectations are already low.

GOT universe is slowly but surely getting worse

Oh yeah we’re in- it’s more hopeful and lighthearted than game of thrones or HOD but not so saccharine as to lose the brutality of the world or “period” where it takes place. Great character development already, some good laughs, stunning production design as usual with these shows. Can’t wait for another season of Knight of the Nine Kingdoms.

This show was awesome, amazing, and just so well done. It blew my expectations out of the water, when the was announced I did not know what to expect (did not read ANY of the books) Duc and Egg is the duo I never knew I needed, and the actors absolutely killed there performances. I really loved how self contained it was with the tournament being the setting here.

Pity the episodes aren’t longer but it is a good series!

Exhausted by cynical Thrones spin-offs, this grounded tale of a true knight doing the right thing really caught me off guard.

The Director’s Eye:
The directors trade massive CGI for an intimate feel. The earthy tournament grounds look so authentic, the architecture actually gave me fantastic visual inspiration for capturing the essence of Europe in my upcoming film. For my traditional values, the story shines. Instead of corrupt politicians, we follow Dunk, a working-class underdog championing chivalry and protecting the innocent. Watching him risk his life to defy an arrogant prince proves honor is about character, not bloodlines. Romer’s folk-driven score perfectly fits a wandering hedge knight.

The Cuts:
The massive dump of Targaryen names and family politics early on got pretty confusing. Also, the middle episodes really dragged for me, bogging down in tournament logistics before the tense trial by combat.

Verdict:
A refreshing return to Westeros championing honor over modern Hollywood cynicism. Highly recommended!

Favorite Line: "I will fight for Dunk."

It is simple, short, and full of fun
Smaller, very catchy and calmer than most stories in that world. I highly recommend ittt.

I have no words but how wonderful of an experience this was to have on screen.

Amazing show. Has a stronger start than GoT imo. Very strong character writing and lore. Amazing action scenes and very cool set designs.
The story was more contained than GoT and had a great setup for future seasons.
I’ve read the book and this was very faithful to it.

Best on screen duo since Ricky Bobby and Cal Naughton Jr.

Such a new and more real take on GoT. Grounded around a singular character’s lore allows you to experience all of their emotions more raw. I look forward to Season 2, can’t wait!

Super süße Geschichte von einem Vagabunden und die Art wie die Serie im vergleich zur Hauptserie aufgebaut ist, ist so leichtfüßig und alltäglich, dass man sich für die Figuren nur freuen will. Die Dynamik von einen idiotischen Riesen und einem gewitzten Knirps ist super Funny.

I haven’t seen any of the other GOT shows but this one was dope. I’ve always a sucker for a good night show and this one was very entertaining. 2 scenes to skip and some language but I thought it was great. Egg and Dunk are dope characters. Great duo
