True to the nook

I liked a lot about this but it really didn’t live up to its full potential

Amazing

fantastic story. touches on important beats in soviet history (through a western lens) through the eyes of one person confined to live the rest of his days in one hotel. beautifully shot and acted, with an amazing score to go alongside it. great binge.

This was such a good show. Heartfelt and heart warming. Vibrant and insightful. I wasn't a huge fan of the book. This was everything I wished the book had been.

Review: never read the book but I thought this was a wonderful show. Definitely slower paced but Ewan Mcgregor has been fantastic in everything I’ve seen him in. Beautiful story and visuals, but a bittersweet ending for sure.

Lots of inspiration from Grand Budapest Hotel, and while there was some disjointed pacing and eye-rolling dialogue at times, it all came together for an ending that made it worth it. I just wish that they had gone with a Russian-speaking cast, would have really helped with the immersiveness

The pilot is really well made. The acting, the score, the setting, and the tone all work really well together.

There are three lessons one must remember in life:

1. Master your circumstances or they will master you

2. Cheerfulness is the greatest presents of wisdom

3. Though I will be sad you are gone, I will be full of joy for your experiences

10/10 would highly recommend

So good. As a huge fan of the book, I was so happy to see such a great adaptation that perfectly captured the atmosphere of Towles’ work. And McGregor was fantastic as the Count. All around, loved.

I really enjoyed that drama, there is still suspension even when it's only took place in one Hotel.
