This reminded me of the Dollars trilogy with Clint Eastwood, and sure enough, Fistful was an unofficial remake. I didn't expect this to have a bit of levity, especially since it's Kurosawa, but it's a great samurai film. The guy with the pistol was such a pussy.

Overall the weakest Kurosawa film I’ve seen so far. It’s definitely not bad, just a bit uninteresting compared to his other films.

Solid watch, fantastic music. Sloppy middle portion but fruitful close.

Definitely not Kurosowas best. Not bad, but not great. The middle part specifically drags.

Some fun scenes for sure, but not worth the runtime imo. I prefer Fistful—at least the action is more distinguished.

Still an overall solid movie though.

what another great film by kurosawa, did not disappoint whatsoever. absolutely hilarious, cinematography is great, and the soundtrack is impeccable. would watch again

This movie looks really familiar… almost like it was made into a western a few years later

i know it was supposed to be more serious but it was kinda funny, better than fistful of dollars

Genuinely, the only thing Fistful of Dollars has over this is that we at least get a natural introduction to Nui & her son & husband in the beginning.

Other than that, this is superior in every fucking way

Was actually so cool. A great samurai satire, while also being a great samurai film. “Hang yourself.”

Ghost stance

A must watch classic for individuals who claim to be movie buffs or who enjoy the foreign films or the western drama. While obviously not a western film, spaghetti western director Sergio Leone used this film as inspiration for his famous Dollars trilogy starring Clint Eastwood.
