“Wuthering Heights”
I just finished this film and I’m honestly shocked—one of the worst adaptations I’ve ever seen. As a fan of the original novel, I left furious and disappointed. The story is over-modernized, overly sexualized, and stripped of its romance. It completely betrays the book.

WOW
exceeded every expectation that I had, which were extremely high for this film.
Margot & Jacob’s chemistry was so captivating.
I felt every emotion they felt.
The imagery and setting was so beautiful.
I balled my eyes out at the end.
10000/10 one of my top 3 movies i’ve ever seen.

4/10 this movie is like a bedazzled skeleton. It’s nice to look at but it’s lacking substance. The beginning with the kids is good, the ending is sad but good, but the middle falls flat with a montage of events. Also that one rainbow translucent candy wrapper looking dress was horrendous and momentarily took me out of the movie. Also the blue crushed candy walls room was also a no, but the rest was pretty. Enjoyed the vibrant pops of color.

holy hornyness.
spectacular production design. every room in the palace was mesmerizing. catherine’s room specifically how it was a resemblance of her own skin was creepy with a very artistic style.
yes it’s very sexualized but i guess they’re just horny af like me. it’s sexual art if u ask me.
all jokes aside, the cinematography is absolutely beautiful. the lighting, every frame spoke to me.
writing not sure if it correlates with the original novel but to my eyes this was a tragic love story kinda like romeo & juliet. but this one hit harder.
there’s so much art in this film. never read the original novel but to me this speaks love very loud.
if you’re hating on this film bc it’s too sexual, you don’t understand the meaning behind it.
charli’s soundtrack added a huge piece to this. she honestly delivered. especially “wall of sound” those chelo cords moved me so much.
jacob & margot are one hot af together & two they should be a couple behind camera.
hands down one of if not the best romance film i’ve ever watched on the big screen.

Are we really thinking they had chemistry? There is no love here, they are trama bonded, and she doesn’t even look at him like a human. He’s her “play thing”. They were just playing some sick little game and had to drag everyone down with them. I loved her dresses but that room 👎🏻

Very horned up but actually a really good watch. The cinematography/ soundtrack was amazing, the scene with heathcliffe on the horse with the red background, I had literal chills. Defo not the love story people think it’s going to be but bring back men being feral for their girls

guys i liked it. i was with my bff and we were cracking jokes the whole time which made it soooo funnnn. when he smelled and sucked her fingers HAD US CACKLING that’s when i knew this movie wasn’t serious.
first of all they were pretty much siblings lowk. i’m all for a childhood best friends to lovers but if my dad is talking abt how he raised you were brother and sister.
dare i say the choice to make heathcliff white was just to make it easier to write a script. with the shit cathy was saying to him HE BETTER NOT BE POC BRO. “you will be my pet” LIKE HE BETTER NOT BE ETHNIC TF.
there would have to be sooooo much careful thought and purpose if they casted an ethnic person so i honestly think they were too fucking lazy. you deadass have this bitch stuffing grass in his mouth, putting eggs in his bed, and getting beat for her. there would have to be genuinely masterful writing to pull that off is a way that’s digestible (if it was a poc) and they didn’t even fucking try
i fucking hated cathy. i can’t tell if i was supposed to like her or not lowk. i fucking hated her. she’s one of those white women who will purposely start a fire then cry and ask why everyone’s mad at her. LIKE FUCK YOU BITCH. and no it’s not serving complex female character like i understand her. she’s just a spoiled brat who has never felt the consequences of her own actions before heathcliff left. that being said margot toooooreeeere that role. she ate sooo hard
jacob as heathcliff is just him. like every toxic man role and jacob plays is the same vibe. guys dare i say that he was giving harry styles in don’t worry daring.
for the main event, my favorite fucking character, MY FREAKED OUT SISTER ISABELLA. I FUCKING LOVE HER. my favorite parts of the movie was the last third. HE SAID YOU CAN TAKE HER BUT SHELL JUST COME BACK. AND MY GIRL GOT WTF SHE FUCKING WANTED. GENUINELY FUCK YOU CATHY. BITCH ASS HOE. cause that scene on the swing had me SICK. and in the drawing room where she grabbed isabella infront of heathcliff. SICKKKKK.
loved the maid she did everything right idc
i say all of this never reading the book. so if any of this is a crazy take. sorrryyy. but i liked it cause it was fun. also beautiful set design and BEAUTIFUL GOWNSSSSS

it’s a partial adaptation. Not the book. The cinematography, set design, and costumes make it visually stunning, with the music and wind pulling you deeper into the story.
If a few intimate scenes stop you from appreciating how spectacular it is as a film, rethink your taste.

Some interesting things here that don’t lead to anything original. I enjoyed the cinematography, the set design, and Margot Robbie’s performance. Unfortunately the story is nothing special and all the characters end up miserable. 6.5/10

the cinematography, the acting, the costumes, the set design, the soundtrack - all phenomenal
a lot of people said it was overly sexual but i thought it was romantic and perfect for this movie
havent read the novel so i have nothing to compare it to but this was probably the best romance movie i’ve ever seen
the end had me in tears - will definitely rewatch

Maybe it's because I haven't read the book and didn't have such high expectations, or because I'm not a demanding viewer, but I liked it. The acting, the cinematography, the costumes, the music and the sets were amazing.

“Wuthering Heights”
It’s an admirable production from a purely aesthetic point of view, but it conjures little genuine feeling. It’s not an unenjoyable film—it’s just not Wuthering Heights.
