Gal Gadot, the world’s most attractive Jewish mother, couldn’t save this train wreck of a super hero movie. Genuinely disappointed.

Celebrating WW Day to see how Jenkins handled the 80s sequel. Expected a fun 80s romp, but the messy plot honestly pulled me out.
What Worked:
• Pascal totally steals the movie; his desperate energy is super compelling.
• Zimmer’s score is an absolute win, bringing fantastic vibes.
• The gorgeous Themyscira opening sets up a great lesson on honesty.
The Friction:
• The body-swap trope felt super uncomfortable since they totally ignore the guy’s consent.
• Relying entirely on a magical Dreamstone MacGuffin for the worldwide conflict felt disjointed.
• The final Cheetah fight in a dark, muddy lake loses all the vibrant 80s flair.
Verdict:
Watch for Pascal and Zimmer. Skip if awkward body-swaps or plot holes annoy you.

Wonder Woman 1984
Perhaps not as completely awful as I once thought - “influenced hate” is certainly a thing.
Don’t get it twisted, the majority of this sequel is a shambles. Namely in the handling of Steve Trevor, it’s just insane and unnecessary, ditto for everything with the dream stone - easily the most convoluted plot device of all time, especially in the climax. There are some moments that work for me - I like the prologue a good bit, the Steve and Diana goodbye - both great. Not to mention the recreation of 80’s Washington.
Gal Gadot does the job, managing to shine in select scenes, Chris Pine is brilliant as always. It’s actually a miracle Pedro Pascal’s career survived this film, not that it’s necessarily his fault, but they have the dude playing the most cartoon villain of all time.
Hoping whoever plays the role in Gunn’s new universe gets better stuff to work with, fingers crossed for Adria Arjona.
