There was a therapeutic element to the simplicity of this film. But this movie’s runtime is far too long. Unnecessary shots and points of dialogue that added nothing to the story. Was pointless for them to be trapped in the pit to begin with, so the plot is essentially pointless.

A bit dragged in some scenes but the incredible representation of its crucial themes made up for it. One of the strongest and finest examples of Japanese films.
