i need people to know that danny devito straps a bomb to a dog in this film. other than that don’t watch it, the dog is kinda magical in the way that it just shows up anywhere but does literally nothing. like the dog could be replaced by a lego brick and the story wouldnt change.

morbid and upsetting, like any other todd solondz film. i appreciated the writing and characters, and the short length definitely complimented the narrative. a fitting and powerful end ties it together; i just wish at least some of the comedy stuck

Omg I was so annoying when I reviewed this two years ago. I think I was too dumb then to appreciate a movie that is meant to make you uncomfortable and doesn’t coddle you. This movie is great, it’s very straightforward about everything in a way that makes it feel very real. It does make you feel very icky though. The majority of this movie is more serious than funny but the intermission is actually comedy gold. Like and the dumb ass original songs 😭😭. Greta gerwig is definitely my favorite part. I love the sincerity of her character.

I love this movie. It’s one of my favorite dark comedies and I was so happy to rewatch it. The different plots were so well done and dealt with different human emotions is different ways, with the wiener dog being the recurring theme that ties it all together. I loved the weirdness that Todd Solondtz brings in his directing and the acting by so many different big actors was so well done. Overall a solid 8.5/10 definitely watch it if you haven’t.
