A pretty intense film that shows what it’s like to live with someone who has severe autism. The actor who plays Kayden, a teenager with severe autism, is on the autism spectrum himself (he has Asperger’s syndrome, now considered part of autism spectrum disorder), and I thought he gave a really strong performance.
At times, Kayden’s father frustrated me because he kept making impulsive decisions for his son without thinking about the consequences. Kayden’s sister simply wants to pursue her dreams when she’s given an opportunity outside her hometown, but she’s constantly torn between continuing her education and thinking about her brother’s needs. As for Kayden’s mother, I felt she was the most level-headed person in the family during difficult situations, but she often gave in to her husband’s poor decisions.
The cinematography is good, and so are the screenplay and dialogue. I do have to admit, though, that the movie dragged at times and occasionally focused on things that didn’t feel very relevant.

This is LITERALLY atypical. It’s also kinda ironic how I’ve been WAITING FORVER to see this film and it was one of the most boring films I’ve seen this year. The wlw arc is cute tho.
