Indescribable… correct me if I’m wrong because I don’t have the experience to know…

I think this is the most realistic war film ever made, again, correct me if I’m wrong.

I’m not gonna go too deep, what really shines here is the authenticity and the performances given.

It’s not a long movie, I’ve had the privilege to experience this in IMAX and it genuinely scared the living shit out of me.

It got too real, I don’t say that about many films.

I’m genuinely frightened, I’m not going to review it negatively though, it’s not how it works, these movies challenge you to reflect and live inside memories, they are the true expression of cinema itself.

I hated every single second in the field because I know this happened, it’s important for us to understand this.

I hope I’m expressing myself clearly, I loved it, it’s masterfully done, the cinematography is simple but challenging, the story is taken exactly by the memories of the ones involved, this is how you do a film inspired by real events. The fact that I hated when they were in the field, goes to show how well made this is.

It’s not cool, no one had to show a Hollywood face, this was art imitating life at its finest, when you step out of a typical action movie you think about how cool it was, this wasn’t cool, this was frightening. WAR IS FRIGHTENING.

And there is no shame in cool action movies, but we need more of this, we need more of real life in our content.

8.3 - Harrowing, gut-wrenching, violent, unflinching. As anti-modern war as I believe any filmmaker would be allowed to make in Hollywood.

The audience is forcefully shoved into intense, volatile, & ultimately unnecessary chaos right away, and never allowed a moment to breathe until the credits roll.

The actors all perform admirably, each committing to the singular message throughout to care for the man beside you, & damn anything & anyone else. And that is a hard pill to swallow.

Beyond performances, it’s incredibly well done in all technical elements, & while not as visually striking at all times as Alex Garland’s Civil War was, it did provide some of the most flawless, emotionally shaking sound design I’ve ever experienced.

Does it truly show the depth of horror committed by the US military in Iraq? No. But again, I’m not sure anything more could receive US distribution, & I truly believe all involved parties did their best to portray a small but horrifying story as accurately as they could.

The public discourse will undoubtedly be terrible. The number of people who will judge this without viewing it will be high. But for anyone who hated Garland’s Civil War for its “lack of a stance” (which I disagree with), I don’t know how you can walk away from this one with the same opinion.

I will likely never watch this again, & I do need a palate cleanser. But it was worth my time.

Horrifying.

That was the realest depiction of war dude! The movie takes you through every moment of this battle/extraction. You can tell everyone that was a part of this cared deeply about what they were doing.

Definitely one of my favorite if not my FAVORITE war movie

It was an extremely visceral, brutal, and intense depiction of war. However, as far as movies and storytelling goes, it felt way too succinct. There was zero character development, little context provided, no beginning, and no end.

so intense

9.0/10 - An insanely visceral snapshot of war, without the glorification. Masterful sound design has you boots on the ground with these soldiers in the theater

Amazing movie - Portrays brotherhood within military like ‘The wall’ featuring John Cena did. Please watch if you can.

Definitely a cinema experience though, due to 3d like sound

4.5/5 the acting is phenomenal felt super realistic and hard hitting making you feel like you made it out with them. Action throughout almost the entire movie which I loved. Amazing GWOT representation and doesn’t glorify or romanticize war.

As I've matured, I've educated myself on topics such as imperial warfare, especially when it comes to America and the Middle East. I won't get into my personal or political reasonings, but I will say my appetite for 'war' stories/films like these has dropped off. The only real reason I watched this was for Alex Garland, who I feel keeps his opinions biased but facts wide open for interpretation. Based on true events, 'Warfare' doesn't glamorise militarism in the way you would think. High on brotherhood, low on perspectives. Great directing, producing, and casting. I'd have given it a 6 if it weren't for my appetite.

Glad this wasn’t your typical war film glorifying the military and war, but it needed more context to be an anti-war film. Super realistic, horrifying scenes. The cinematography made for an incredibly immersive watch. It’s a real time war film as remembered & its scary toll.
