Resident Evil
Wow. I’ve lived through so many bad Resident Evil films just so experience this one. Sure, Leon and Jill and Barry and Wesker are not in this but they don’t need to be. It captures the feeling of resident evil, telling a story that fits perfectly in its universe. Plus it’s funny. Really funny. I trust anything Zach does. Go see this. It’s amazing.

Was worried about how they would use the IP but this movie blew away my expectations and then some. Im glad it was an original story and they didnt copy stuff from the games 1 to 1. The atmosphere and the build ups are done perfectly as well. Capcom give this man another go plz

Dude Zach Cregger just doesn’t miss. I don’t know much about resident evil but I do know this movie goes unbelievably hard. I love how tight and focused it is on one regular guys survival from beginning to end. Every sequence is super creative and effective. Austin Abram’s performance makes for a great POV character too. He’s funny but not too over the top. I also love how it somehow gives the feeling of playing a survival video game while being a great movie at the same time. Cregger is 3/3 now.

Resident Evil
So much build up for a wack ending don’t care what anyone says I’ve played most of the games and I liked the little things the represented it in the film, but personally of an ending it is weak instantly the whole film becomes sloppy, good cinematic work though

The amount of times he said «hello», like «hello, are you dumb?» Also, RUN FOR FCK SAKE!
This movie had me STRESSING. Love the jump scares.
I’m kinda disappointed how this movie ended. He did all that for nothing

95/200 • 7/10 i really like it lol, the ending was so disappointing though so i think it’d put me off watching it again. Austin did really good though and the range of mutations was pretty decent.

“God damn it. I fucking suck at guns.”
Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil adaptation is without a doubt the best movie adaptation of a gamer ever, though that is no high bar, it’s still a feat worth commending.
Resident Evil is a must watch in the cinema, it’s terrific and terrifyingly comedic, there’s not a single dull moment and does not outstay its welcome one bit. I recommend this AND ONLY THIS for video game movies, as it’s a thrillingly fun ride made for both die-hards and casuals, without a doubt the gold standard of video game movies.
1st Act 9.5/10 (The best part of the movie without a doubt.)
2nd Act 9.2/10 (Amazing moments, but pales in comparison to the first.)
3rd Act 8.7/10 (Lacklustre final act but then again, fitting.)
Plot 9.7/10 (The adaptation of the source is so fucking good I’m so glad it got the respect it deserves.)
Soundtrack/Score 8.6/10 (Practically nothing new to bring but still good within the movie.)
Acting 9.6/10 (Austin Abrams and Paul Walter Houser are so fucking good in this.)
Pacing 9.3/10 (Perfect for what it is, just no edge of the seat stuff.)
Cinematography 9.5/10 (RACCON CITY IS WINTER FUCK YES.)
Character Development 9.3/10 (Bryan is so fucking funny, really makes you care.)
Writing 9.6/10 (So fucking funny at times gotta give props.)
Ending 8.5/10 (A bit lacklustre but nonetheless satisfying.)
Direction 9.7/10 (Unpredictable and knows his shit.)

Man I hated this movie. I hated the main guy. The character or the actor. He actually did great. Just didn’t like him. This was comedy first. Then a horror movie. Then ten other random things. Then resident evil. Obviously slapped the name on Zach’s random horror comedy. Nope

I came to this movie with a pinch of salt knowing it's a game adaptation and with the fact that I didnt not enjoy "weapons" however i was surprised by how well it was done, it's a great moviel and it genuinely makes me hope for more good game adaptations in the future.

YESSSSSSSSSSSS
Not even a die hard Resident Evil fan but I loved this 🔥 I’ve only played Resident Evil 2 and seen the Netflix Resident Evil show that came out a little while back. Loved the game, have no clue what others think of it. Enjoyed the show, have no clue what people think of that either 😅
I’ve seen people loving this one, and it’s true. This is truly a great piece of work by Cregger. I didn’t like Weapons as much as I thought I would, especially given the amount of hype that was built up around that film. So this one, I went in as soon as I could and it was well worth it. Only 1.5hrs and it’s honestly the perfect runtime. Nothing needed to be longer or shorter, it was just right.
The main lead did a perfect job mixing the serious tone with the comedic one. The scares were real, only 2 of them actually got me good but man were they all well done. This has one of my favorite “zombie” scenes now, iykyk 👀
Highly recommend if you’re a fan of the RE franchise or if you just love “Zombie” content, especially the fast and crazy ones. More of a virus theme but zombie’s easier to explain 😂
Will be seeing this again. Also, if you get a chance to see it in IMAX, it’s so worth it 😮💨

My close personal friend Zach Cregger has done it again and there is not an ounce of inner conflict when I say this is his best work. What he is able to capture here hasn’t been done to this level of perfection since Evil Dead 2, this is terrifying but utterly hilarious, it is slapstick horror in its truest form. Some of my favorite horror camera work with some inspired segments that only further pushed the presence of the video games this embellishes upon. But to call this “game like” is a complete understatement, this IS a video game cut, clipped, and edited to a level we only rarely see; and of course, this is drilled into place by Austin Abrams who is so deep in his element I forgot who was even on screen. He plays this bumbling fool so damn well that I just started viewing this as Jerma staring in a movie of a game he’s playing, it is ridiculous how perfect everything connects together and how entertaining of a product it becomes. I love the score that accompanied this, it really sells that this is in fact a horror film, although that too is reinforced by some truly great jumpscares this rides a unique level of tension that few films emulate. NO SPOILERS but the ending is immaculate. It is haunting, it is depressing, it is cruel. But it is awesome, and it is something I will not be able to forget about any time soon. This was a lot of fun and I’m starting to sound like a broken record with these scores but horror is in good hands. 5/5
