I love horror movies and gore, but I usually enjoy it more when I know what I’m in for. I wasn’t expecting this, especially at a level where kids and grandparents are being beaten or slaughtered.
In my opinion, this movie would have been better without the excessive violence and kids swearing.

my first impression was: put that bitch down! i was more grossed out than anything because the gore was way too much, and the storyline was very lackluster. the parents also had no sense of survival skills or urgency. it had so much potential but fell flat in many areas. and why do the demons in Lee Cronin films be freaked out?! like HELLO

he did NOT react fast enough for me 😭
anyways..something about it felt bland, I don’t rlly know how to describe it and it wasn’t scary at all. it sucked to be honest, the trailer was better than the entire movie

mummies are famously dry as hell, so why is everything so disgustingly wet??

Pretty audacious move from Lee Cronin to have his name in the title of only his second major Hollywood release. Even crazier that he did so for a not very good film.
I was actually really rooting for this film, Cronin isn’t the full problem either, his directing is sound - he has a clear vision, and it’s evident that an over abundance of effort has gone into it. The issue is his writing, it’s shoddy and borderline shit - the narrative and whole structure was just dumbfoundingly dull.
The film starts strong with the “prologue” with a compelling mystery, but he’s in such a rush to start doing scary shit. The issue with that is that what’s provided isn’t all that scary - opting to throw loads of “jumps” at you, jumps that are all borrowed from others in the genre and leave no response. Going the full-gore route in his flimsy 3rd act, makes it feel quite clear he wanted to make another Evil Dead film, and maybe he should have just done that instead…
I feel really bad for Jack Reynor, he just can’t get his “in”. He’s actually a really good actor and I think he frankly deserves a lot better. Everyone was pretty good here, the acting wasn’t the issue by any means.
Unfortunately “Lee Cronin’s” The Mummy is a bit of a waste of time - being labelled as an “original take” is kind. The core question of “what happened to Katie” really isn’t complex and I think if you have any wit, you could quite easily suss it out from the trailer.

Lee Cronin's The Mummy
Lee Cronin, is everything okay at home? I low-key want a Cronin biopic because wanting to create something like this feels borderline illegal, and it's worrying me. I'm okay with horror, but some scenes almost had me calling my mummy. Oh, and to make matters worse, they just had to name a character (Zaki) after me. The practical and prosthetic work is truly sickening. The tension and horror work well enough. The characters and story are interesting. All in all, for a horror film, it's brilliantly traumatising. Also, I enjoyed how much Egyptian culture was actually involved compared to past 'Mummy' movies.

This movie is about 45 minutes too long sadly. The violence and gore are unique and serve as the standout in this bloated marathon. Aside from the scant few moments of uniqueness, the plot does little to earn your attention for the extended run time.

so disappointed. The pace is weird it started out great but then it got so slow nothing happened either Katie is being weird or gore scenes but like where is the actual story? the demon is said to tear families apart but we see nothing of the sort. The acting was good tho

It feels like “disgusting” is a new sub-genre of horror. This movie is very boring and basically just another exorcist movie, which I was hoping for a little more uniqueness.

Lee Cronin’s The Mummy is a very gory and horrific movie, but the story is lacking in a lot of ways. The film is a very dragged-out film with most of the film being the family taking care of Katie or talking about Katie.

Dissapointing, the beginning was interesting and the story it could've been but it just turned into a shit ton of gore, i notice a lot of horror movies use gore to fill in the plot so they don't have to write more for the story, lazy writing, and shitty adaptation.

Oh wow I did not expect this to be my favorite horror movie of 2026 so far… the story was so intriguing from start to finish and this movie reminds ever so slightly of a non-cheesy version of Evil Dead Rise.

The Mummy is a dark and gruesome reinvention of the classic monster, leaning heavily into supernatural and body horror instead of the adventure style fans may expect.
