it was pretty good, i think i’m just more used to newer movies so i didn’t take it as seriously

It wasn’t ideal. The actors weren’t great and I was a bit confused.

I wanted to watch a slick, rainy vampire flick after a long week. I like this; it’s a moody throwback that totally nails the 2000s leather-and-guns aesthetic.

What Worked:
• Beckinsale owns Selene, bringing a cold energy I really dug.
• Practical Lycan effects look raw and way better than rubbery CGI.
• The gothic world-building hooked me, making the feud feel epic.

The Friction:
• The romance felt rushed and didn’t emotionally click for me.
• Heavy exposition dumps about bloodlines really dragged the pacing.
• The heavy blue-and-black tint made it hard to see big fights.

Verdict:
I like this. Watch for a stylish gothic throwback. Skip if messy lore dumps annoy you.

It was okay. I thought some of the effects were really good, especially for a film from 2003, but I just didn’t think the storyline was that great. I couldn’t really get that invested in what was going on, although there were some good action moments.
