This movie is a slick, predictable but enjoyable horror/action hybrid that takes a lead from the highlights of the Alien franchise... I feel like The monsters are revealed a bit too early; the impact of the finale is somewhat lessened by the fact that we know what the monsters…

I really like the way this was shot and the overall eerie underwater atmosphere. But is it worth watching? Not at all. Weak script and not so great a payoff when it comes to the creature feature. One of those films that has you consistently spacing out.

Creepy SciFi. I really liked how it was filmed. Being that far, deep underwater scares the crap out of me. Random cast but it works.

Rating: 5.7/10 ⭐️
I expected a slow sci-fi mystery, but this throws you into the deep end in five minutes. It’s a relentless, claustrophobic thrill ride.
The Director’s Eye:
Eubank nails the terrifying deep-ocean atmosphere. Murky lighting and tight camerawork sell the crushing weight of the trench. As someone who values traditional ideals, I really appreciated the focus on blue-collar workers relying on each other. Kristen Stewart gives a grounded performance. The nobility of self-sacrifice here is a deeply resonant theme. The sound design is the real star—every metallic groan makes you feel like the ocean is caving in.
The Cuts:
Character development is practically non-existent. We jump into the disaster so fast I barely knew anyone's name, making it hard to care emotionally. Plus, the underwater action gets super muddy. With all the debris and rapid editing, I honestly had no idea what I was looking at sometimes.
Verdict:
A stressful, fast-paced monster B-movie. Lacks character depth, but highlights the nobility of sacrifice. Good for a tense late-night watch.
Favorite Line: "If we stay here, we're going to die. We have to walk."
