I actually really do believe Ale. The mom’s behavior and body language did not feel to me like she was telling the truth. Who knows though… crazy story honestly.

A deeply disturbing and emotionally heavy documentary based on a real case in Mexico.

Ana desperately wants to build a family with her husband, but after suffering several miscarriages and facing constant pressure from both her family and society to become a mother, her desire to have a child gradually turns into an obsession. She eventually encounters a pregnant woman who does not want to keep her baby, setting in motion a series of events that ultimately leads Ana to steal a newborn from a hospital after faking her own pregnancy.

I really liked the way the documentary blends dramatized reenactments with real interviews. The combination makes the story feel both intimate and unsettling, especially because the film never tries to excuse Ana’s actions or turn her into a victim.

Instead, it presents her circumstances, her losses, and the immense pressure surrounding motherhood while still holding her accountable for what she ultimately chose to do.

What stayed with me the most is how the documentary explores the darker side of the idea that motherhood is something a woman is expected to achieve at any cost. It is uncomfortable, tragic, and difficult to watch at times, but that is precisely what makes it so compelling.

I’m glad she had her own child in the end

so well made. really liked the use of actors and real life people. fascinating story that I think needed more investigation, was there more evidence that 100% proved ale was hallucinating everything/making things up ?

It’s very sad that Ale had to go through all that, and I’m not justifying what she did but this documentary it’s another proof of the harmful and disgusting patriarchal system that us as women have to deal with.

Wasn’t sure about this going into it but the reenactment documentary style felt refreshed. Wasn’t sure where it was going to lead then it went there and whoa. The ending dragged though. It’s like they wanted to make it 1.5 hours so they stretched it out. Could have been an hour.

Um she could’ve done a thousand other things in that hospital, but she decided to take it out in a plastic bag in front of security cameras💀
