Very old. Great concept that was greatly increased in Tron legacy. Absolute bop by the way. Getting ready for Ares tonight but hopes are not high

Noah is "meh" on
Tron
I didn’t hate it. It was some cool visuals for an early 80s movie. I don’t want to nitpick the visuals but just wasn’t completely used to it. The story was decent. I liked the stuff that was happening IRL then inside the program in this. I unfortunately didn’t get to watch this straight through, had to come back to it. I thought it was decent, maybe not as good as I expected it to be.

5.4 - I’d seen Tron once before and found it incredibly boring, though I loved Tron: Legacy when it came out.
I tried giving this another watch before seeing Tron: Ares, & still found it boring, but also just a little confusing.
It feels like it’s multiple independent movies smashed together with highly necessary connecting pieces missing from the story. It’s caught between an evil AI taking over the world sci-fi, a creationism & authoritarian government commentary, and a standard corporate espionage drama, and doesn’t give the latter enough attention to make it fully cohesive.
There’s just not enough exposition to care much for anything happening on the grid & the lack of view into the real world makes most of that story feel unnecessary, or at the very least, incomplete. Not to mention, as impressive as I’m certain the graphics were in 1982, it’s honestly difficult to watch today in a lot of ways, because of how flat & lifeless the grid world feels. In a lot of the ways, it feels like story & world building was sacrificed for “look how cool this stuff we can do with a computer is” & that hurts when the technology doesn’t hold up.
I really want to like it, all the themes sound like a fantastic blend for my tastes, but I just find it too hard to care about while watching.
