First and foremost, the cinematography. I'm not educated on the technical aspects of it all, but I'm sure it's shot on film rather than with a digital camera, and against the on-location backdrop, it looks and feels beautifully nostalgic. Sadly, that's where most of the positives end. The pacing killed the story, and the context of the story itself didn't feel worthwhile. I was expecting more 'Kill Bill' and got almost nothing alike. Great casting, average performances. I'd only really recommend this if you're into cinematography.

this was really great. people's biggest gripe seems to be it wasnt another kill bill and slower than they expected...thats on yall. pacing was great and it was all it needed to be. tim Roth rules in everything he does

Great scenery, cinematography, and score. The story could have been fleshed out more. There was no attachment to any character.

a little slower paced than I thought it’d be .. but I didn’t find that to be a problem

beautiful looking film, definitely shot with some real intent, best way to describe the action is ‘purposeful’ .. only gripe is I wish it leaned more into the samurai lore, but a good watch

The critical response to this is not what it should be. If the film were 70 years old it’d be considered a classic. Some say it’s slow, I say it tells its story best in the silent moments. Masterpiece of a film. For fans of Kurasawa, this is a must watch.
