This movie was criminally boring. Why did so many people love it?

I’m surprised I loved this one so much. Top Gun (the original) is not great in my opinion. Maverick squeezes out every bit of lore and connection from the first movie and tops it with a better story. Lots of fighter jets, of course.

Tom cruise. All I gotta say

Not only honors and respects the legacy of the first one, but surpasses it in every regard from the characters and their development to the music and visuals. It truly was a special experience in theaters after coming back from deployment to watch with friends and family. 9.7/10

Pretty good, just a couple plot holes, and I didn’t like the romance. The music was pretty good.

I didn’t enjoy the 1st one but oh my god this movie is INCREDIBLE!!

The action/flight sequences are genuinely incredible and adrenaline pumping. Some of the filler stuff is whatever, but overall really fun. Must see in theaters! Tom cruise is a legend

Always a banger

This movie absolutely lived up to ALL the hype. The hyper-realism made it all the worth while, and there wasn't a moment where I thought the acting was "corny" in any way. Everybody killed their roll, and Tom Cruise NAILED this film.

All in all, 9.6/10. 100% top 10 potential.

Watched this on my birthday for the first time and it felt like a personal present. Tom Cruise propaganda pieces are some of the best propaganda pieces. I loved how it wasn't the stereotypical 'bad guy russians' but 'bandits' and how the only destruction was toward other weapons. As silly as I might sound, or as silly as this film might be, the tension and talent in every frame kept me entertained and aviated for the entire 2h 10m and 15s. The cast, soundtrack/score, dialogue, acting, practicality, vfx/sfx, story, ending, emotion, and jets, sucked the nostalgic cheesiness right up into my engine.

Never saw the first one but loved this one.
