@gcarv wouldn’t dare to even look at the plate of oysters. He’d probably be running towards the bathroom if he saw the lobster roles

From the dialogue to the simple cinematography and everything in between, this just might be one of the best biopics out there. When Micheal came out, I thought, good but safe. This is excellent and courageous, exactly what a biopic should be, a person in imperfect and that’s what makes them human, this project has one thing that most don’t have, Heart.
Everything is near perfect and the magic that the film creates while you watch it will stick to you for days to come.

Dude I didn’t even know this was supposed to be a biopic of Anthony Bourdain until the very end. But honestly if you remove that aspect entirely it’s still a fantastic coming of age movie. This is the kind of movie that originally got me into movies, and I feel like they don’t make these kindof raw classic feeling coming of age stories anymore. I really dug the ascetic and the time period. I also never would have thought Dominic sessa and Antonio Banderas would be a good combination but they’re genuinely the heart of the movie and they both absolutely crush it. I really hope more people hear about this and check it out.

You can choose to be whoever you want to be. The theme of Synchronicity(Meaningful Coincidence, not random events) & Providence(Guiding attention of God) are prevalent. Though he takes the journey from selfish to maturity he still never made me have faith that he won’t be selfish

I loved this. Matt Johnson killed it with this film. With music by Jay (I heard he killed someone in his tour van), the movie captures such a perfect blend of youthful searching and rebellion, showing a side of Anthony Bourdain we rarely see in media. It’s such a great film and I’d watch it again

Wasn’t super convinced that that was supposed to be young Anthony bourdain. To me, he was very unlikable and lacked spirit. Was that the point of this portrayal? Expected more tbh

I liked it was a bit interesting but also a little bit boring and eventually in the end of his life, he did become a writer

Great film. Maybe I’m bias because I idolize Anthony Bourdain but all in all if u are able to watch it you should.

I couldn't even see a point to that movie, there wasn't a character development to the boy or anything.
