The daughter-in-law’s sweet, but holy, she’s also creepy as hell—as is everyone else because of the filming techniques.
Ikiru and Ode to my Father were so much more impactful and emotional
The takeaway is that “life is disappointing” that’s awful.
Some beautiful imagery

An honestly beautiful story about aging and how disappointing life can be, but how important it is to accept it.

6/10 Sad tale about the fragility of life, following a Japanese family after the war. The last 30 mins was the best part, leaving behind an eerie feeling of loneliness and stripping it down to show the harsh reality of human nature. I wanted to love it but it’s just so slow.
