Body horror… as a concept, it’s incredibly fascinating. It’s a subgenre that Hollywood often misunderstands, yet its potential is far wider than people give it credit for. What makes body horror truly unsettling is how it preys on vulnerability—it works directly on the mind in ways that feel both complex and deeply disturbing. And that’s exactly what I felt after experiencing the chaotic, grotesque phenomenon known as Tokyo Gore Police.

Now in all honesty, I’m not particularly too fond of the genre of body horror. In fact, I wasn’t originally planning on watching “Tokyo gore police”. In the past I had only seen two films that utilize the practice of stylistic body horror and one of them managed to amaze me while the other managed to disgust me. Now I say this because fascinatingly enough “Tokyo gore police” remarkably managed to do both 

When I viewing Tokyo Gore Police, I was using my past viewing experiences to decide where this lies on my meter, and when deciding this, I would try to use two extremes to see how I would across it. Now for one, I tried to reference the outright disgust I felt while watching Terrifier 2 and then I remembered the genuine amazement I had during my first time viewing of Cronenberg’s The Fly. Terrifier 2 pushed body horror into a realm of cruelty that felt almost punishing, the kind of violence that left me nauseous long after the credits roll and even almost puking. The Fly, on the other hand, used its grotesque transformation to build a tragic, mesmerizing story and one that made the horror feel meaningful rather than excessive. Somehow, Tokyo Gore Police walks this bizarre tightrope, delivering imagery that both repulsed me while still pulling me in with its strange creativity and unhinged imagination.

Viewing Tokyo gore police was a experience that I both wish I didn’t take part in but at the same time I am astonished that I am glad I did. I genuinely hope that in the future I will come across more body horror projects like these.

This is one of my new favorite films ever. it's super over the top and silly with lots of explicit Gorey, and sexual scenes. the atmosphere is crazy and there's definitely some Quentin Tarantino inspiration there. please watch it if you like strange films

lighthearted and fun movie for all the family, show your mother, she’ll love it :)
