Thought Crimes
Obviously poses moral and legal arguments.
Most violent crimes start out with a fetish or fantasy. The question is how do you know who is going to act on what they are thinking about and who isn’t.
I think he clearly crossed the line for uploading photos of people he knows personally, especially his wife. That’s such a huge breech of trust and I can’t imagine how violated those woman felt when they found out they had been shared online for others to fantasise about cannibalising them.
Do I think he would have gone through with it? Probably not. He did admit it was all fantasy but he also said he would genuinely eat human flesh if given the chance and I believe he was truthful in that.
Overall, it’s hard to know where the line was. I do think there should have been an undercover operation done to try actually catch him out with an actionable plan to kidnap someone. I guess they don’t want to do an operation on one of their own.

Thought Crimes
Thought Crimes had an interesting and disturbing premise, but unfortunately I found the documentary pretty boring. The case itself raises some fascinating questions about the difference between disturbing thoughts and actually committing a crime, but the way the story was presented just didn’t hold my attention.
There were moments that made me think about where the line should be drawn between fantasy, intent, and criminal behavior, but overall it felt slow and repetitive. I kept waiting for it to really pull me in, and it never quite got there.
The subject matter is definitely thought-provoking, but the documentary itself wasn’t for me. Interesting case, boring execution.
