At first it might seem as a film trying to be clever, but feel a little on the nose; as the storytelling choices made are bold but not totally revolutionary. However, this film WILL make you laugh, it speaks volumes on that part of history and it does have a powerful message

everyone should watch this movie, it must be a lesson to every single one of us. it’s movies like this that make me feel so proud of being italian, it’s movies like this that still give me hope in humanity.

An unashamed, old-fashioned melodrama develops into a more considered tale of small victories on the road to female empowerment. The movie is a real balance between dire circumstances and ironic dark humor.

I actually really enjoyed this! ❤️ I wasn’t sure what to expect going into it, but I found myself really getting into the story and caring about her.

I thought the way her emotions were shown was brilliant. Her facial expressions and body language said so much, especially the little moments where you could see genuine happiness mixed with the fear and anxiety underneath. 🥺 You could really feel what she was going through without her always needing to say it.

I also loved the way the film showed how her husband’s behaviour affected the whole family, especially seeing the children understand his moods and knowing when they needed to leave the room. 💔 There were some really difficult moments, but there were also some funny little moments that I really enjoyed, which gave the film a good balance. 😂

I loved seeing her slowly start to take things into her own hands too, and the storyline around the vote was such a meaningful part of the film. I especially loved the little detail with the lipstick and how it helped protect their votes. ❤️ And that moment when everyone stopped and looked at her husband as he approached her after the voting was so powerful without anyone needing to say anything.

There were so many little details throughout that I really appreciated, and I loved how much the film communicated through expressions and body language rather than spelling everything out.

Definitely a film I’m really glad I watched. ❤️🥹

I watched this movie 3 times, it is astonishing. It’s all in black and white. It portrays the role that women had in society back in the day, what everyone expected of them and how they were perceived. It is a story of emancipation. The acting was absurd. Paola Cortellesi is goat

a mother's love

A beautiful movie that broke my heart. Women we have always fought for our rights so it's a beautiful story. Delia is fighting also for her daughter and I find it very beautiful she didn’t want her to have this violent husband and want her to be free.

They did a great job making this movie look new but with an older version. Funny but true. Women on top! 🔝
