Thought it’d be more of a classic but still quite good

Been a long time coming for this one, was hoping to watch for the first time on the Criterion release but alas, MUBI was right there…!

The film is far more lowkey than I thought it’d be, until the climax of course, but it’s more interested in building a case for their turn to crime . Writing is very good, efficiently building a level of understanding for Thelma and Louise very quickly - allowing their road trip, and all that follows, to get started nice and quickly. Some unreal shots here, more so in the climax, but there’s plenty to enjoy throughout.

Susan and Geena both do an incredible job, you really feel the chemistry between the two in a really convincing way. No wonder this was a breakout role for Brad Pitt, he kills it here with the limited screen time, making a huge impression. Harvey Keitel is fantastic as per.

Very unlike Ridley Scott, it feels like a bit of an outlier in his filmography. I just wish the film had a bit more depth to their relationship - I just wasn’t really feeling it, despite understanding their reasons individually.

what a movie. a little predictable at times but so well executed that it didn’t matter. they did what i want to do EVERY FUCKING TIME someone harasses me or anyone in the streets. felt somehow relieved watching this, thank u
