i was so afraid of these witches when i was little, this movie was so good but it creeped me out, idk the vibes i guess

Creepy as shit for a kids film but that what you get with a Roald Dahl story. You’ll never look at an old lady scratching her hair again or looking to see if she has purple eyes or nubbed feet

Great prosthetics, that kid can’t act for shit though

Kid has grandma who tells scary stories about witches who hate kids, wears wigs and have square feet.

Parents die off screen, which is sad, kid goes to live with grandma.

Grandma gets sick so they go to fancy beach hotel for health air.

Hotel is also hosting witches convention. The leader is Morticia, is very evil and when she takes off her face mask is ugly.

Boy get turned into a mouse. Mouse boy plots and serves karma.

Hell yeah! They gotta bring movies like this back to traumatize them kids! Angelica Huston doesn't get enough credit for roles she's done. Something about these witch movies that are so cozy to watch, even the darker ones, but this one was plenty of fun.

Absolutely amazing, one of a kind

PG and not a strong R is wildly wicked. I remember watching this in school. I'm pretty sure they turned it off after 20 minutes because this is horrifying. Not only are the designs and effects good, but the camera work and acting is great. Anjelica plays evil like she genuinely was born evil. If it wasn't for the Mr. Bean cameos, she would've been charged with war crimes. The mice work is crazy too, I can't imagine how many takes it took. Emily Blunt needs to be in a remake of this when she hits her 60s because she looks just like the kids' grandma. I'm glad it stook to being a kids' tale with heavy lore.
