Great storytelling. Great action. So many emotions as Bella is torn between two guys and two families of mythological creatures. I love seeing the tri relationship between Jacob, Edward, and Bella. Very complex and it makes the action packed and BADASS climax that much cooler.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
Again, not my favorite movie in the series, emotionally. But somehow, against all odds, Eclipse might actually be the most satisfying movie so far. Imagine that: a Twilight film where things not only happen, but occasionally happen well.
David Slade really came in and said, what if this franchise had an actual pulse? The darker tone works, the pacing is sharper, the visual effects are better, and for once the action scenes feel like they have real stakes instead of just existing to fill time between longing stares and emotionally catastrophic indecision. It still absolutely has all the melodrama you’d expect, but now it at least feels like the chaos is going somewhere.
One of the best things Eclipse does is give Rosalie and Jasper’s backstories room to breathe. Their histories add a different texture to the film and give it a more layered, almost unexpectedly interesting vibe. It’s not just Bella standing in the middle of supernatural male suffering for two hours. There’s actual character material here, which feels borderline revolutionary for this series.
And then there’s the tent scene, which remains one of the funniest exercises in forced emotional seriousness ever committed to film. Edward being trapped there while shirtless Jacob huddles Bella for warmth is already peak absurdity, but knowing Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner kept breaking into laughter while filming makes it even better. Honestly, that was the correct response. There is simply no way to play that scene completely straight without at least spiritually laughing.
Also, points to Taylor Lautner for apparently committing to this movie with the strength of a man determined to carry both Bella and the entire love triangle on his back. In the scene where Jacob carries Bella to hide her human scent from the newborns, the crew tried using a rolling cart to spare him, but it looked unnatural, so Taylor insisted on carrying Kristen Stewart himself through a full day of takes until his arms were basically destroyed. Method acting, but make it werewolf.
So no, Eclipse still isn’t my favorite. But it is probably the first movie in the series that feels like it understands the assignment a little better. It’s darker, tighter, more dramatic, and just self-serious enough to be entertaining.

Are we just going to ignore the assault? Besides that this movie is insane. It’s INSANE. It’s a good movie but but it’s definitely gone downhill since the first one.
