The Tragedy of Macbeth
The minimalist art direction goes insanely hard which hones in on the haunting horror & anguished psychology of the characters. I might need to watch this again to really appreciate the performances. The sound design is utilized very well too. Might be the most spark notes…

The Tragedy of Macbeth is a perfect adaptation of one of Shakespeare’s greatest works by allowing for simplicity. The world feels real while providing minimalistic sets and allowing your imagination to fill in the blanks.

The Tragedy of Macbeth
The cinematography, visuals were stunning but we really didn’t need another Macbeth, especially a Denzil Macbeth…nope.

I for one could go for an entire series of Shakespeare adaptations with this production design and cinematography.

gets extra points cuz its an a24 film but other than that it's somewhat decent for shakespeare. probably hard to follow if you haven't read the play though. awesome acting and filming!!

The Tragedy of Macbeth
a pretty excellent shakespeare adaptation that nails the writing, performances, action, and black-and-white visuals. definitely minimalistic, mostly for the better, with several truly gorgeous sequences. i’m not the biggest theater nerd, but those who are will appreciate this
