Le film m'a mis terriblement mal à l'aise tout le long. Pourtant il n'est pas effrayant, seulement très dérangeant pour le spectateur 😬

The Taking of Deborah Logan

Wow. This movie does not want you to get comfortable for even a second. I went into it expecting the typical slow burn you usually get with found footage horror—where things build gradually and escalate toward the end—but this one had me unsettled from the very beginning. Even before the truly horrifying moments, the atmosphere was tense, eerie, and just plain uncomfortable in the best way. I knew I was in for some scary shit when Deborah tears a chunk out of her own neck-fucking terrifying. It also didn’t help that I was watching it at 6pm while I was basically home alone. Jill Larson’s performance as Deborah is phenomenal. Seriously, the casting couldn’t have been better. She throws herself into the role and sells every second of Deborah’s terrifying transformation. At first, I found myself questioning the daughter, Sarah—like, why didn’t she just leave or hire full-time help? But as the movie progressed, I understood her more. When your parent is all you have, walking away isn’t easy. That emotional pull was realistic and grounded, which added a bit of depth to the horror. The one person whose reasoning was completely lost me was Mia. Like, what was in it for her? What was the thought process behind sticking around? I get that she was filming for a grade or something, but seriously—is that worth dying over? Gavin, on the other hand, was such a breath of fresh air. As soon as things got weird, he bounced—and honestly, real. He didn’t know these people, wasn’t emotionally tied to the situation, and there are a thousand other ways to earn a living without potentially getting possessed. Plus, he was the first one to suspect something paranormal was going on. Shoutout to Gavin for having some common sense. 💀 The actual explanation behind the haunting—while not groundbreaking—was solid enough to carry the plot. It didn’t need to reinvent the wheel because the execution and delivery were strong. I also appreciated that the film toyed with my expectations; for a while, I was convinced the daughter or the family friend was going to end up involved in some kind of dark ritual. That misdirection kept things interesting. Overall, The Taking of Deborah Logan doesn’t rely on a complex plot—and it doesn’t need to. Its goal is to scare the hell out of you, and it absolutely succeeds. It’s unsettling, intense, and filled with genuinely terrifying moments. A must-watch for fans of found footage and supernatural horror.

Disturbing but not scary. I enjoyed it as a movie. But not as a horror movie I think it was produced very well, it wasn’t too predictable. It had some common horror tropes but, that isn’t inherently bad.

At times, the found footage style was a bit annoying and felt like it was used as a cop out. But overall, I think the movie was pretty spooky with some decently hard to watch scenes. And a few jump scares that got me good.
