like ryan could’ve actually driven off
maya couldve called the police when she first saw the mask
ryan could’ve shot the girl instead of trying to reason with her
but the hospital scene… can’t wait for the next one 😭

felt slow and ryan was lowkey a lil bitch. haven’t seen the original but don’t think i would after this. predictable at times but not a dislike bc it still creeped me out, as a horror movie should; the masks 🥴

They marketed this as a prequel but you can’t convince me this isn’t a remake. All plot points from the original were recycled. Their skills somehow were even more honed despite this being how “they became the strangers”. Did jolt me a couple times but they’re still chasing 2008.

“This was the most brutal.”
So… they what, stabbed them and then knocked them over and that’s supposed to be brutal? The film left a lot to be desired. Good acting from lead actress, nice cinematography etc but the plot was lacking, as was some of the script.
Disappointed.

Probably just as terrifying as the original; just complete terror for an hour and a half, it was so good. Can’t wait to see the rest of the trilogy.

I'm a bit confused here. Why was this movie made? It isn't a shot for shot remake of the 2007 original film, but it may as well have been. It goes through the motions, hits the same beats, and sticks to the formula. It's not horrible, but haven't we already seen this? 4/10

it wasn’t a bad movie. i liked it, but i do think some parts were a little bit bad. a lot of dumb decisions in this movie but i liked this. it was a pretty good scary movie.

6/10 Good jumpscares and very suspenseful but the lack of context when it came to the motives of the killers made me confused, and uninterested.

Decent remake of the original, remains faithful to the slowburn suspense of the first one, while keeping it fresh and original. Doesn’t offer much outside of being a remake but it’s a setup for the trilogy, so it’s understandable. It’s meant to be an introductory chapter. 7/10

You’d get more excitement from drinking a vase of hotdog water. God does this movie also do product placement like no other?? I’m pretty sure you’ll never recapture the magic of the original, but how will I ever know? I left 20 minutes in.

Honestly? I was expecting much much worse. But I genuinely liked the shots and directing, had some good freaky moments, lot of nice imagery and I actually think the acting wasn’t half bad! People were acting like it’s pure poopoo caca but I actually had a lot of fun tbh.
