The Sting
This was a delightful watch. Any questions about how this film won every award in the book evaporated as soon as I saw Newman and Redford together, it is immediately understood that this is just a different class of film. Every sweeping angle of the city is a reminder of how good films can look, every chaotic interior is a reminder of how important the smallest details of set dressing are, it never lets up in showing you just how brilliant the film industry can truly be. Maybe I disagree with the pacing, maybe I didn’t love the length, yet I was completely enraptured through every twist of this excellent story; these characters, their delivery, the entire presentation of this story stole my attention, but what kept that attention most of all? That brilliant, Oscar winning score. A great oldie, and an inspiring watch. 4/5

The Sting
Best Picture Oscar winner 1974 (46th Academy Awards)
My Rating: 8.5/10
Nominated for 10 Oscar’s and won 7. You really can’t go wrong with Robert Redford and Paul Newman. Loved the whole setup. Robert Shaw is great too. It has some funny moments but some thriller too.
