Wow. That’s not what I was expecting, but I was not disappointed. 🌝 I went into this movie expecting some weird ancient cave monster, instead we got some damn carnivorous plants and Mayan villagers who were NOT playing around with these tourists. 😭💀 Safe to say, I was pleasantly surprised.

While I definitely felt sympathy for the characters, I’m not gonna sit here and lie. This was completely their fault. And honestly? Completely avoidable…and overall stupid. 🤦‍♀️ First off, who tf follows some random guy you just met into the middle of the forest to some ruins no one in your group knows anything about? THEN he tells you his damn brother went missing after going there, and y’all STILL decide to go? And not even tell anyone where you’re going? STUPID. White people, man, I swear always on some shit. 💀

And don’t get me started on Amy, because wtf is wrong with her? 😭 The audacity to continue taking pictures while these people are actively pointing guns and arrows at y’all. DO YOU WANT TO DIE??? READ THE ROOM. And for her to be the one who survives? 💀💀💀 She played, overly.

The rest of the characters were okay. I liked Mathias; he was pretty cool, and poor man was going THROUGH IT. 😭 They’re deadass arguing while the plants are violating him, like can y’all PLEASE focus? Your friend is fighting for his life!

Also, can we talk about that argument from Stacy? 😭 Because why tf is she convinced her boyfriend and best friend are fucking while they’re all trapped on these damn ruins surrounded by carnivorous plants? 💀💀💀 Girl, I know the plants are messing with your head, but PLEASE.

Okay, enough about these damn characters. I felt really bad for that little boy, though. He was genuinely a victim of this whole situation because AMY is a dumbass. 😭 His mother crying was so sad, too. 🫠 Like damn, that poor woman.

But y’know what? This movie was better than I expected. And while there were definitely some scary moments, I liked that it focused on the effects this traumatic experience was having on the characters. Watching them slowly fall apart mentally while being trapped in a situation they can’t escape was honestly one of the more interesting parts of the movie. And the gore? Pretty damn good. 👍

I also saw a TikTok talking about how much more sinister the plants were in the book, and honestly, it sounded really interesting. Apparently, they can imitate entire conversations and even produce familiar smells, like bread baking. HELLO??? 😭 The movie already showed us the plants mimicking a ringtone, so imagine how much worse it could’ve gotten if we’d seen them using the characters’ own words and memories against them. That would’ve been INSANE to watch, and I kinda wish the movie had leaned into that more.

But overall, I enjoyed the movie more than I thought I would. It’s a pretty interesting premise, and it actually works. I went in expecting one thing and got something completely different, but I can’t even be mad about it. 🌝

Amazing movie but abrupt ending with her in the car, like did she crash and then they catch her and drag her back? I’m just confused because I thought that they wouldn’t want to touch her since she’s covered in spores.
