Transphobic. I understand that this movie came out in the late 70’s, however, the way the trans/queer characters are talked about is done in an incredibly ignorant way. Using words like “Transexual” and “transvestite.” As well as demonizing queer culture. 0/10 would not recommend

I cannot even put into words how much I love this movie. All I can say is just Frank N Furter made me feel so much safer to be trans and just different in general 🏳️‍⚧️❤️ I still go to midnight screenings whenever they pop up in my town!!!

fun, provocative, different, ahead of its time! not a movie for everyone, but definitely a movie that everyone must watch at least once. not only because it’s a classic, but because it makes you reflect and it leaves you with SO MANY QUESTIONS, but also hilarious memories.

Iconic.

Disjointed and odd - can appreciate it being avant garde but the storyline was blegh and there was no flow.

this movie is controversial. on one hand it's seen in a modern lens as offensive portrayals of trans/queer culture. but on the other hand it was made in a time in which even mentioning being gay in public was dangerous. ultimately it's dated. but it was still an important step.
