The Revenant Reviews

Pity Oscar for Leo party of one? Fantastic cinematography but very little plot. I’d rather spend 3.5 hours debating leo’s 26 year old dating cut off.

It has the guy from the wolf.

Get ready for Leo crawling on the ground for what feels like forever!

I mean....is there anything better than Dicaprio moaning in your ears for 2 and a half hours 🥰.

The Revenant has it all: love, drama, and wrath. Based on the true story of a 19th-century American frontiersman, as well as fur trapper Hugh Glass, The Revenant keeps you pulled in and intrigued with the outstanding cast led by Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, and Domhnall Gleeson. Fantastic storytelling keeps you pulled in and hoping for revenge in the snowy scenery.

It's no wonder why heavyweight actors like DiCaprio want to work with Iñárritu. The entire cast brought their absolute to the table, not just performing on location but in brutal conditions. I can't explain the amount of authenticity, from the costumes and vfx to the landscapes and cinematography. Some scenes make me warm and safe, while others cold and alone. There's incredible depth to the (true) story, with several layers of emotion and historical interpretation. The score and symbolism create a melancholic and continuous atmosphere, although 30 mins off the runtime wouldn't hurt. If you want a raw Native American rooted gladiator story, this is the watch.

I actually fell asleep a few times before finishing this movie

Great movie with a star packed casting will re watch again

The bear attack scarred me for life but other than that 👍🫡

9/10 what a great story. This shit was insane!!!

Transported to a completely different time and place with nothing to take me out of it. Which is impressive when you got bane, Leo and eyebrow boy. Well done! Not sure how much of the locations were real but it was all stunning! Crazy story!

It was really well made. Way too graphic for my taste and the horses, omg the poor horses… it’s still a really really good movie, I would highly recommend watching it. I just won’t be watching it again. 😅

a grueling immersive journey of survival and revenge. beautiful cinematography and a subtle but powerful score to match.

I was debating watching this movie for the longest time, and boy am I glad I finally did. Outstanding performance from both Leo and Tom. Some people found the movie boring and the plot too thin, but in my opinion a straightforward plot worked really well for this. Also ->

Last time I watched this was 2015 & holy crap I forgot how gnarly the bear attack is! Very long but the scenery is breathtaking & the acting is fantastic, especially from Leo & Hardy. The fact that it’s mostly a true story is insane, Glass survives on sheer willpower & vengeance.

Revenant 👍

another one that took me longer than I wanted it to (which definitely tarnished the overall experience a bit) but overall this is a beautiful and epic movie, and no one can complain when both are pulled off.

9/10

8/10

The Revenant is a brutal survival story about a man left for dead who fights through the wilderness for revenge. It’s slow but powerful, with insane visuals and a strong performance from Leonardo DiCaprio.
