SO GOOD. you find yourself rooting for both of the main characters at different points in the film and by the end you aren’t sure who is in the right and who isn’t. I didn’t even realize the actual twist until the film was over and man, it was great!

Common Christopher Nolan masterpiece that man never lets me down

really shows you how far rivalry-fueled hatred and obsession can drive you. the way the story is shown to the audience i think is very well-done, and i enjoy the vagueness of the ending. even now knowing the twist i still thoroughly enjoyed watching everything unfold

the performances in this movie are all amazing, which is to be expected from such a heavy hitting cast. my only issue with this movie, and what’s keeping it out of love for me is the fact that i was never really dazzled by one of their magic shows. yes, the tricks they were doing were extraordinary, but all of their shows felt dedicated for them to sabotage each other to further the plot along. i think it would’ve been really cool to feel as though i was an audience member for one of their shows at least once, and to be truly blown away by it. it would’ve made their fame feel more real and the stakes be that much higher.

again, ending confuses me, but it’s a good confusion. it’s almost like you’re not supposed to get it, or you just don’t want to. you want to feel as though you’ve experienced something you can’t explain, i guess
