i get why people may find the ending to be unsatisfying but i think it ended in a solid way. I just wish that he woulda known at the end that the station wagon crashed so he knew he was right all along. i’m kinda pissed lori acted how she did at the end after all he did for them.

edge of your seat thriller with moments of cinematic brilliance

good plot with good setting, gave me some winter vibes

that did not need to be 2 hours long, handful of useless scenes with music that didn’t fit the tone. the jump scares and the camera randomly zooming in and out multiple times was cringe. all that for a drawn out story with an underwhelming conclusion

ending hit

Great movie except I don’t like endings that leave it to the viewers interpretation. Frustrating.

imma be honest this was kinda boring... but god so tragic
emotionally a good movie

I liked the movie. The beginning with the investigation and digging for more info and other cases was great. I think the mid story change over was good. I feel like the art expert/ therapist was a little odd. It felt like they wanted to set up him going crazy. But kinda dropped it after that until the ending. I mean she asked about hearing voices. Why not put in two or three of him hearing something responding but they aren’t there. Maybe the gf responds and is confused. Give her clues he maybe a little off. I felt that the therapist should the turning point of into madness. Until I catch him, im so obsessed I’m losing it. But the promise part kinda felt left in the dust. After the guy kills himself why not go back to the family. Have dad pissed he cheated his way out of the justice system. But moms relieve no more kids get hurt.

I get people aren’t a fan of the ending. It feels dissatisfying. But I think that was the point. Not every case gets a neat bow on top. I won’t lie, it did leave a sour taste in my mouth. I wanted the catching him moment. Proving Eckharts character was wrong and fucked over the wrong guy.

Jack Nicholson is generational

A nice detective film directed by Sean Penn and starring the legend Jack Nicholson. The plot was interesting but the ending felt a bit unsatisfying.

Such a basic and boring plot to a movie. Add that to a really dumb ending that makes you feel like you just wasted the past 2 hours of your life. With such a stacked cast you'd think at least one of them would steal the show but none did, not even Nicholson
