The Place Promised in Our Early Days Reviews

3/10 I’m sorry but I just did not really enjoy it. Good animation and beautiful music but the story was just boring, it was complex yet super simple and they explained nothing yet when I read an explanation it’s exactly what I thought. Kinda reminds me of Evangelion in a way where there’s all this background stuff going on that they mention here and there and then they randomly mention fancy futuristic words and stuff and it makes zero sense. I guess it’s a casual lighthearted movie I’m not hating but then why try and make such an odd and complex storyline just for it to still be so straightforward and not explained. All I know is the two dudes built this plane and wanted to fly it with the girl to see this tower but there’s all this war stuff and the girl falls asleep and then her consciousness is like trapped on the tower and they forget about flying the plane and all this other stuff happens that doesn’t really make sense and then one of the guys finally flies the plane up there to save her and I guess they reach her. I feel that it would’ve been more enjoyable if they fleshed out the story more on what exactly is happening compared to bits and pieces and just focusing on the two dudes just growing up and working and being depressed.
