Although this is meant to be an origin story, I felt like I learnt nothing. Except blood, father who doesn't understand evil but heals evil, more blood and french guy. The plot twists got me afew times, but most were ruined because I understood what was going on faster than characters could lollop their way into evil. The visuals could have been a lot better, but the casting makes up for it. Also, I didn't giggle through this, which I think is an achievement. Laughed at the comedy, stared blankly at the horror, danced through the jazz, and expressed afew kind words through the magic.

a lot of scares were added purely for scare factor, not to move the plot along. nothing special, just meh. that being said, i love u frenchie.

it just doesn’t compare with the rest of the conjuring series. i could kind of tell where they were going with it at times, but others i was pausing and taking a moment to understand. i feel like we don’t learn much, but this is a great series. just a poor opener in my opinion
